In an environment where innovation is a key factor in industrial competitiveness, product development has become one of the main drivers of differentiation. At FJ, we apply our technical expertise in the marine sector and in areas such as hydraulics, control systems and industrial valves to develop solutions that not only meet our clients’ requirements, but aim to exceed them.
Our team is multidisciplinary and consists of a group of marine engineers, mechanical, electrical, specialists in automation and software developers, which enables us to tackle the development of products and systems with a holistic approach, from the initial concept through to its final validation.
At FJ, engineering is not a service in isolation: it is the backbone that connects every part of the project to the expected outcome.
Design and prototyping
Product development begins with a process of structured design supported by tools structured design supported by advanced engineering tools.
We use 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) for the detailed modelling of components and systems, carrying out mechanical design, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, thermal analysis and structural analysis. These capabilities are complemented by software development and mechatronic solutions where the system requires them.
The use of these tools enables the creation of functional which are evaluated before they enter the manufacturing phase, reducing technical risks and optimising the performance of the product under conditions the performance of the product under real-world operating conditions.
Documentation, testing and support
Each prototype is subjected to a rigorous testing programme to ensure its quality and functionality.
Due to the sector in which our products are used we have a wide range of qualification tests to carry out, mainly comprising:
- Pressure tests (EN, ISO, etc.)
- Crash tests (MIL, STANAG, MAP, etc.)
- Vibration tests (MIL, ISO, etc.)
- Noise test (airborne or structure-borne) (MIL, ISO, etc.)
- Fire resistance tests (ISO 10497, ISO 19921, etc.)
- Electromagnetic compatibility tests
These tests are carried out both at our facilities and at those of partner organisations with whom we collaborate and which have extensive experience in carrying out the same tests, which enables us to obtain the necessary approvals of various types according to the various classification societies, based on the needs of the customer.
Document management and technical reports
As a result of the design and qualification activities, we manage a set of technical documentation, essential for shipbuilding and industrial projects.
The documentation generated includes:
- 2D drawings and 3D models
- Management of the configuration
- Development of bills of materials (BoM)
- Reports on analysis by finite element (FEA) and code technical
- Analysis of modes of failure, effects and severity (FMECA)
- Manuals for installation, operation and maintenance (IOM)
- Protocols for testing FAT, HAT and SAT
- Complete project data books
This document management system enables ensuring technical consistency, traceability and alignment with the requirements contractual and regulatory of the client.
