Escotillón IV Program | Integrated motorized valve and control system solution

Programa Escotillón IV | Sistema de válvulas motorizadas y control integrado

Multipurpose newbuild program for the Chilean Navy

Integration of motorized valves, control system and HTS solutions under a single technical responsibility

Within the Escotillón IV Program, developed by ASMAR Talcahuano for the Chilean Navy, FJ participated in the construction of two multipurpose vessels, supplying an integrated package consisting of motorized valves, associated control systems and HTS cable transit sealing solutions.

The program required robust and reliable systems fully compatible with the vessel’s architecture, where operational availability and safety are critical.

FJ’s contribution focused on delivering a technically coherent solution, reducing external interfaces and ensuring alignment between valve, actuation and control.

Technical Scope of Supply

The supply included motorized valves configured according to project requirements and integrated with a control system designed to ensure safe remote operation, continuous monitoring and effective response in demanding operational scenarios.

The solution was complemented by HTS sealing systems for watertight cable transits, ensuring structural integrity of compartments and protection against water or fire propagation.

Manufacturing and configuration were carried out in accordance with shipyard technical specifications, ensuring:

  • Mechanical and electrical compatibility with the vessel architecture
  • Full documentation traceability
  • Functional validation
  • Dimensional control

Delivering the solution under a single technical responsibility minimized incompatibility risks between subsystems.

Engineering and Shipyard Integration

Coordination with ASMAR Talcahuano was essential during the technical definition, manufacturing and integration phases.

The solution required adapting the control system configuration to the vessel’s electrical architecture, as well as ensuring correct communication between motorized valves and control panels.

During the process, the following activities were carried out:

  • Functional verification of valves in local and remote operation
  • Control logic validation
  • Signal and redundancy checks
  • Coordination with shipyard engineering for final integration
This approach ensured that the system responded in accordance with the operational requirements defined by the Chilean Navy.
Added Value of the Integrated Approach
The combination of motorized valve, control system and HTS solutions under a single technical responsibility provides clear advantages:
    Reduction of critical interfaces
Greater technical coherence of the overall system
    Simplified future maintenance
    Improved documentation consistency and traceability
This integrated model is particularly relevant in multipurpose platforms where systems must operate reliably across different operational scenarios.
    Result
Participation in the Escotillón IV Program strengthens FJ’s international presence in naval military programs and consolidates its capability to deliver integrated solutions in newbuild projects.
The project demonstrates FJ’s ability to collaborate with international shipyards, providing engineering, manufacturing and control solutions under demanding technical standards.
